Two residents die prematurely due to choking on food. The cases highlight the challenges of managing the impact of dementia on residents’ ability to eat as well as staff managing ethical decisions about resuscitation.


There are also salient lessons about gathering information about residents' wishes and values along with understanding the legal limits of the role of guardians appointed by the public advocate.
